Hi there, a few days I had a problem with Windows XP which forced me to do a system restore via a guide I found online. I managed to get XP to work again but unfortunately in the process of restoring, it somehow wiped out all my drivers and I had to reinstall them again. Fortunately I managed to locate and restore my video drivers but I am still unable to locate the correct drivers for my audio. All I know from what I have found thus far is that it probably is a Conexant High Definition Audio device, but the drivers I have found for it are not compatible with my laptop, for some unknown reason. Here are the specs for my laptop as per below. If anyone has the same or similar setup as I do, there is a possibility that your audio drivers are compatible with mine. Can you please help? Thanks.
welcome to microsoft. You know, I've never had to install drivers on my linux or mac installations - haven't had to deal with that for years. I can just plug any thing I want into them and the drivers are already there What we used to do, back in the day, it find a box (shoebox, motherboard box whatever) and put ALL your driver CD's for that computer in it, all of the manuals for your printer, mouse etc etc inside it so it's like it's software and troubleshooting treasure chest. Now that you know where the driver is, why not burn a backup (it will always be this driver for your computer) and keep it as a physical disc in case you need it again - saves your skin in a pinch (and by pinch I mean windows crash)
Excellent idea! I have a rather large "treasure chest" of manuals, software CD's, etc... etc... and when something dies, that's the first place I look to reinstall something. Second, I go to the mfg to see if there has been any updates to the software.
