Anyway I have just developed a web site called www.quiznetonline.com and someone has come back to asking if I could sell him advertising space on my web site. His email is : "I am planning a Triple.com advertising campaign. Triple.com is an ICANN-accredited domain registrar. It is a high quality website as you can see. I am interested in purchasing advertising on your website http://www.quiznetonline.com Can I buy direct text link to www.triple.com ? Can I buy a permanent text link? If it is impossible I'd like to prepay for 3, 6 months or 1 year (or any other time period, as you wish) via paypal. I can pay a good money for a good link! Please send me payment information. " So what I want to know is, does this sound legit and secondly how much does one charge for a text link per month as I have no ideas about how to approach this. Thanks in advance Mark

Who is linking to a website, and how they link to the website is very important in the search engine optimization world. Lets say i want to rank my website on Google for the keyword "Seattle talent show', I want to put text links on other websites that read "Seattle Talent show" . When a search engine crawls the website and sees that a text link reading Seattle Talent Show points to my site, Google will give me points for that keyword phrase. This person is trying to buy link placement on your website. Not a bad thing Tell the guy that you want to charge $250 - $1000 a month? Why not. The only way you are going to know if he is serious, legit, is to run his credit card number. Right? I wouldn't bill him for more than a month, though. Too many complications. You charge whatever you think is fair. How many unique visitors do you get on a monthly basis? What do you mean you don't know how to approach this? Give him what he wants, within reason, that is, and put his ads in.
