I just got this site (for some reason, bought it at spur of the moment..LOL) and now that I have it, I really do need some good positive ideas on how to make this site more unique, make me tons of money (natch!), and just be different from other humor sites. Should I add in blogs, forums, etc related to humor? Should I somehow work in humor related affiliates? http://www.humor-articles.com
I'd just make a general chat forum, there's not many of those around. Or! You could be really wacko and make it about the lifestyle of an emo kid and confuse the hell out of everyone looking for humorous articles ^^;;
Going to put a forum on the site. Did a little squeaking of the site just now so every page now has a way to continue on to more pages (previously, once you got to one of the articles, only way to continue was to hit the back button...terrible!). Will be adding more pages like: where to buy joke books, posters, etc etc. Take a few days for this. Now my question is: where is a good place to put the links to the forum, etc? The entire top before that thin yellow line is an entire header so can not put anything there. ANd most importantly, what is an emo?
The yellow hurts my eyes. Anchor text blends in too much. I wouldn't worry about a forum until you have enough traffic. You could put nav links in between the header and content. Emo = emotional http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Emo_%28slang%29
Okay, got rid of the yellow. It is now white just on the main page for now. Is this better? Let me know. Also, you will see the top 3 links to articles each have a different color scheme on the blue. Which one is better? Let me know. Thank you. http://www.humor-articles.com
I just put in a new logo. Changed that bright blue. Now looking at how to change the link colors so they better blend in yet stand out (I have not had much coffee yet!).
I'd definitely change the background color. The bright purple pulls the eyes away from the content and it hurts my eyes. Change the font to black and make it as easy to read as possible. Always use very dark, preferably black fonts because it is easiest to read and it is what we are used to. Look at any of the top sites - Google, facebook, YouTube, amazon, ebay - every one of them is black type on a white background and there's a good reason for that. I've seen a lot of debate about the font background and font color. I always tell people when google changes their font color away from black, I'll change mine!
