So i have a PC with XP on it. When i bought it i never got the actual CD. Basically the OS is on my hard drive and whenever i need to reinstall the system i had to use the red floppy... Now i have lost that floppy. On top of that i want to throw this HDD away because its quite old and i don't want it to die on me... Im also a student... sooo... Can i get an academic vista for less? Obviously i want an upgrade version rather than a full one because i already have a licensed XP but how do i go around it? I don't have a CD and i want a fresh install. Or shall i just buy a full, none academic version and forget about all the hassle? Quite a few options.... hmmmm... Any suggestions guys? Thanks!
mate with the kinda a hdd you mentioned. i am not sure you would be having a very latest pc in that case i wont recommend you vista but if you do have a good machine with a near about 1 or 2 gb ram. you can go for that though i will suggest you not to dump this hdd and keep that with the new one you get by that you could simply get windows installed on the new one and then you can simply take a cd or dvd back of windows from hdd thats what i did dont mind if you didnt like something of what i said regards gaurav
I have a beast of a system. That HDD is the only thing i kept from the old comp... Im throwing it away anyway... It takes too much space lol
oh in that case i will suggest you to try out this link http://www.microsoft.com/windows/pro...c/default.mspx
I have decided to reinstall my XP. There is a problem though. The partition is no longer there. I guess when i was trying to create the master CD it got deleted. Is there any way i can download a fresh copy of windows XP? Obviously i paid for the license to use it and not the files on my old HDD. I still have all the keys too...
