I started a directory a few months ago http://dialupsafe.com. It's quite manual and maybe not the greatest layout. Basic rundown of the site: It's for Dial up users, basically they search the directory for a site, all the results are sites that load decently quickly. I put some affiliate links and Adsense on the site. When someone submits a site, it is extremely manual, so if it ever did become popular I'd work my ass off, but I'd sell it. So, do you guys have any idea to monetize it or get more traffic? Or should I just trash it, because my hosting is done at the end of the month.
Mate you have me stumped on this one, you claim to have worked your but of yet most links in that site are dead, you have a sig that says get xyz visits to your site but ask how to get more people ( not much credit to that link ). Rather than rave on, just scrap it and start again properly, or get this domain up and firing / promted in an area that is still on dial up ( if there is anywhere that still is ? )
Hope you dont take this the wrong way, but im guessing you have never listed a site there? none of the category links work, and im guessing its mostly in place for the adsense? The links to the left i noticed are working, did you intend to keep it this way? "so if it ever did become popular I'd work my ass off, but I'd sell it." not fully sure what that means.
Do any of the category links work ? In my humble opinion, the internet is heading in the oposite direction from what you are proposing Pages are getting heavier, thanks to general access to broadband, Wireless 3G mobile access may one day be available world wide, everywhere, anywhere a mobile phone works, the price might come down faster than you think, an it can be faster than current broadband speeds Dialup modem tech might well become a distant memory, used only for very specific tasks Perhaps you have other info,,,,
I'm sure there's plenty of crap wrong with the site, broken links yeah. I think I will abandon it, the only place that it might get attention on is TV, screw that.
