Well fads may come and go but while they are here people make alot of money on them.. If you think about it just about everything is a fad.. I am seeing alot of the things that were fads in the 70's and 80's coming back.

The way I see it is ... they took an idea, put a little twist on it and they hoping to generate some funds to start a new business. I give them 10 for effort, they are trying!

IamNed I see you point but, give the guys a break! Maybe you should PM him your address and have them drop off the smashed up viper on your door step once they hit their goal!
    ;)

Looks like a really interesting idea. I think what you need to be careful of is to get the big damage (=big bucks) in early. After all, why would people pay to "key" your car if it is already so scratched that no one will notice the difference? The interest is in the shock value, and the shock value is in the fact that damage is being done to a new, expensive car.

What I would do is (now you already have had a bunch of publicity) make effort to approach some big name advertisers who may be interested in paying you 100,000 or something like that to dynamite the car or something else really spectacular. The fact that people are already aware of your concept and are coming to your site, means that you will have a really good chance to offer that advertiser the opporunity to get a great viral video (With their advertising in it) out there.

As I said, though, the novelty is as short-lived as the can can be made to look reasonaly "new". You need to get this big advertiser on board now. No one will pay you a bunch of money to dynamite a car that is already a wreck.

If you watch the videos you will see it is a real viper, the team are wanting news exposure, im pretty certain its 100% a viper, also if a company want to inflict the damage on the car for themselfs they can do so. How would you get around that if it wasnt a real viper ?

Goodluck with your project, hope everything works out, i probaly would have bought some space, but seeing my business is UK, woudnt make any real sense at the moment.

I might believe it. Having looked at the site, you will notice that all the damage is done to the exterior. Keying/scratching the paint, hitting it with a bat to cause dents, drilling holes, putting stickers on it, etc.

There is no option to tear apart the frame and permanently damage the vehicle beyond what a standard bodyshop could fix in a day's work.

Not saying it wouldn't be expensive, but it's not like they are "really" destroying it....at least it doesn't look that way from the options provided.

Awesome info, I'm definitely taking it into account. Most likely I'll post my draft press release when I have it ready on here to see what you guys think. Thanks again!

As bacardirum is saying, it's definitely a 100% real Viper. In fact, one of our advertisers in the next damage video is coming to VA to do the damage themselves. I don't think we'd be doing all the damage and what not in public if it wasn't real lol. We also wouldn't be trying to get TV press as I'm sure they'd have figured it out when the car has no damage. Check out the galleries and you can see some of the higher quality pictures of the damage. Plus look at the latest damage video in the blog section.

I don't have much to say to help you with your marketing, but...

DUDE!! That's a frickin sweet idea :) Way better than all the milliondollarhomepage rip-offs that have popped up.

In all honesty, I don't think you need the billboard for your site. Most people would be happy enough just watch a viper get wrecked.

On a side note - I'm gonna try to save up some money to throw a brick through the windsheild :D Doubt I'll have the money in time before somebody else does it though :(

    Awesome site man :)

Thanks, yeah the main thing I think is getting the word out there and really building up the traffic. So any suggestions that haven't been already said are appreciated.

It looks like a press release is probably our best bet?

SmashMyViper...You might want to fix your main page. The pixels over on the right side are behind the scrollbar on my screen. Maybe adjust the width a tad so that they are all visible on a 1024x768 resolution setting.

Can you e-mail me a screenshot of what you see? The grid width is 1002 pixels, so it should be fine on a 1024x768 resolution. Since the grid has to have 1,000 pixels length and height-wise, I have no play in width adjustment unfortunately. Again though, it should just fit in a 1024x768....it does on every monitor/computer I've tested on...

It's going :) We've sold 1,500 pixels so far and we're doing a new damage video this weekend. They are all key marks so far, so we're still waiting for some advertisers to step it up a little.

We'll be doing a press release early-mid Jan....traffic is still really good on our site though.

I see 3-4 vipers in that video clip. If you worked your whole life to get one, where did the others come from?
