I would consider to place ads for visitors who are not registered in the similar way which use this forum (try to log out to see). No matter if you join some advertising network, use adsense or sign up for affiliate program. Try different ways and compare the results.
so you plan to make some advertising to your forum, right? Then you have several options... - article marketing - write some articles about soccer and sport them submit them to article directories (see my signature too) - web directory submissions - press releases - signup for accounts on twitter or facebook and promote your forum via those extra-big social networks good luck!
twitter, stumbleupon, article marketing, participating in big sports forums ie - ESPN on this side of the ocean. twitter is a great bet if you follow people who are also interested in soccer as chances are they will follow you back and hopefully head to your forum
Just get active on other sports and football forums and if you can afford it release a press release.
How about this; Create a thread on soccer memorabilia & collectibles. Start it off by saying.. Does anyone out there have any of the following items; Then List 50 sought after items, that collectors world wide, would be interested in, using the right key words. eg. Pele's 1970 Mexico World Cup Jumper. Diego Maradona's 1986 FIFA World Cup signed jumper. etc. etc. Search engines should pick up this info, and bring traffic that uses these key words.
Why not you publish newsletter to attract audions.. Create a free ebook or some tool and give it free with optin box.. once you will get registered user .. sending them newsletter with offers and promotion..
