Which , in your opinion , is the best plan to host your websites on? Im looking to host blogs and download sites( like image file uploader). And Also how come the semi-dedicated server costs more but has less bandwith then the swamp plan? Any info is appreciated.
They're baby hosting account should be fine for standard blog hosting. As for file uploader type site be prepared that once it gets pretty busy that they'll tell you to find another hosting provider since that's what happened to me.
Well on their shared accounts they do what you call overselling which is the assumption that not all users are going to use the allocated resources. The real restriction is the amount of CPU and RAM that you can use on the server not space and bandwidth. So for the semi-dedicated you get a much bigger piece of the pie in terms of CPU and RAM compared to a shared account with say 300 accounts while the semi-dedicated has 10 accounts or whatever the number is. That's why it costs more
Can't offer any technical advice but I signed up last week for hosting for the very first time and I've found host gator to be fab so far. They have been helpful and everything has been really simple to set up. I have the baby croc plan.
