I am trying to put all of my stuff on my laptop but every time I try to login I get this
    [14:00:23] SmartFTP v3.0.1015.5
    [14:00:23] Resolving host name "************"
    [14:00:23] Connecting to *********** Port: 21
[14:00:24] No connection could be made because the target machine actively refused it.
    [14:00:24] Client closed the connection.
[14:00:24] Connect failed. Waiting to retry (30s)...
    [14:00:24] Active Help: http://www.smartftp.com/support/kb/58

My login and password are correct. I am using XP. I went to the link but could not find the problem. Would appreciate any help! Thanks

maybe you are trying to access your domain.name but the server settings may require the hosting service domain name or its IP.

do you have any firewall on your computer, your internet device? Have you opened port 21?

I have the windows firewall on but I have SmartFTP as an exception. I am not sure if I know what you mean by having port 21 open. How do I tell?

Thanks guys for trying to help!!

If you use default firewall, I believe port 21 is not opened. Add another exception with port 21

I am not sure how to do that. It added the exception on its own. But I tried turning the firewall off completely and it still doesn't work :(
