Ok folks. I have one of the more popular golf blogs out there. I pay for adsense and my ad shows up at the top or very high on the right side of adsense.

    My pagerank is 5.

BUT when I type in "golf blog" or something like that into google, my actual listing can't be found.

I'm using wordpress. What do I need to do to get a higher non paid google listing?

    Thanks!

    Hey GuyFromChicago,

I've never heard of that search term before. What does it show? I'm currently ranked 7th for the keyword I'm optimising for, yet I'm not even listed within the top 200 google searches for that keyword!

Am I sandboxed? The site is only a month old.

Definately more links with the keyword phrase variations focused for your search terms.

Having the higher positioned allinachor (specific text phrase all within the link text just as the name implies) shows you are going the right path. Keep up the good work!

I switched from blogger to my own domain back in April. So since april.

Now I know nothing about navclient. I guess I have some learning to do. Why if it shows up so high there it doesn't on a regular search?

This means your linkbuilding process is working well and you will be ranking in that position if google don't have any filters. Unfortunately google have filters ( I have no idea how many are there ) and some of them are temporary. [ Sandbox for example ] As soon as the effect of those filters diminish you will be ranking in that position. ;)

Google likes links with keywords in the anchor text. If you on-page SEO is good then get some more links.

Is there a specific time period for that type of thing?

One of my new sites got out in exactly 3 months while another 9 months old site is still in sbox. ( But the seo for old site started very lately, perhaps that is the reason  )

3-4 months is average as far as I know. :)
