all cards are not compatible with all motherboard, mine is a 4 year old board, so I have an AGP card. These days motherboards have PCI express slot.. check your motherboard and will be able to know what slot it is.

You may check your motherboard first and then the slot for graphics card then decide what type of card that you would like to purchase.

If you are able to take out your current graphics card from the board, bring it to the PC parts vendor so they can identify your card and assist you into getting a better one.

Or google your motherboard brand and model and see what graphics card it supports

If not, open Device Manager (I'm assumming it's Windows), go to System Devices, and look for references of "PCI Express" or something. If it's there chances are, your card fits in a PCI Express slot. If it's AGP written there, then.. .

First check your motherboard and then only search for Graphic Cards. To check MBD open the cabinet and see the brand name of MBD and model no.
