Hi everyone, on my website, www.cuttingcosts101.com, I have just started an email list building campaign. I had an ebook created for me and I am giving it away for free on my website...as long as you sign up for my mailing list. have a look at my website and tell me if there is anything I can do differently to maximize my signups to visitors ratio. Also, I could use some advice on how to promote that i'm giving away a free ebook on my site. Thanks to all those that reply, Kevin
That's a nice start.Giving away freebies attracts more visitors and it also serves as the stepping stone for them to recognize your site.
Rule #1 - Tell people what you want them to do. When I went to your site, I did miss the thing on top that says Free ebook offer. I would change that to something like Click Here To Grab your Free Report on xxxxxx. I would change ebook to report. Many folks are shying away from the term ebook. You also need to tell us what the report is about. Free ebook/report about what? Horse racing? If you do that, you can remove the other thing about click here or above. Rule #2 - Check your links. After signing up for your report, it takes you to a 404 error. Also, make the link open in a new window. Don't take your customer away from your site. Hope these rules help
You may have missed the link on top, but did you not see the first post....which was about the ebook offer? I think that is a good idea. Ebook is sort of a buzz word that people would maybe tend to shy away from. I will give it a try with 'Report' and say what it is about. I found the problem and made the change. Thanks for your help. +rep coming your way! Thanks, Kevin
Hey Kevin, Yes, I missed the link on top the first time I looked at the page. That was why I brought it to your attention. It does not look like a link. Had it been centered instead of left justified I would have probably seen it, but would not know that I could click on it. Remember who your customers are. You must assume that they know zero about links, wordpress, marketing etc. Basically, they know nothing. I have to remind myself of that quite often. If you make sure that people know to click on that link to get your free report, you can get rid of that click here or above. You'll have to admit that it sounds kinda dumb, or maybe unprofessional would be a better choice of words. I didn't go through the other pages of your site, but be sure to include the signup on those pages as well. Best of luck, Zeek
I would create a squeeze page dedicated to promoting the new ebook and you can add it to your forum sigs or run it through traffic exchanges etc....Or if you really want to grow your list fast, start a PPC campaign promoting your free ebook....
I'll have to admit that I don't know a lot about squeeze pages. I know what the general idea is though. Are you talking about setting up a new domain, or just create a page on my blog about the ebook (which I already have...and you can see the link in my sig) I have contemplated about PPC, but I think we'll see how the free methods work first. Thanks for your help! Kevin
Unrelated suggestion: re-position your Adsense ads - no point in having 3 in a row down the side of the page. Get some horizontal banners across near the top of the page.
I was talking about creating a new domain, put some keywords in the meta tags, create a keyword rich title and a keyword rich description, the whole nine...you might even get some organic traffic to the site if you choose you keywords carefully. You can also add an image of your ebook on the sidebar or the top of your blog with an autoresponder form under it..... you can check out the second link in my sig for a sample squeeze page...
That was next on my list! I noticed that none of the ads are visible when the page loads. I should make this a priority since i'm getting over $1 for some clicks! Thanks for the suggestion. Kevin
