Google seems weird about showing your backlinks, I'm not sure if they just don't want to show them all or what. Ive noticed that i can see way more backlinks in yahoo site explorer to my site than I can with google...

Google only shows a sample of the backlinks. You can sign up with Google Webmaster Tools and see the rest of the backlinks.

Google only shows a small sampling of backlinks, Yahoo will give you a clearer picture, also Google webmaster tools

When you use the link:yoursite.com operator on Google you will only see a RANDOM SAMPLE OF FOLLOWED AND NOFOLLOWED LINKS (Keeps your competitors from snooping). The only way to see all of your links that Google recognizes is by signing up for a Webmaster Tools account. In there you will be able to check out the anchor text and the amount of links and where they are located. If you don't feel like doing all of that good stuff, then you can always use Yahoo Site Explorer....I suggest you get this plugin for FF:
    http://yoast.com/tools/seo/link-analysis/

IT WILL SHOW YOU IF THE LINK IS FOLLOWED, ANCHOR AND LOCATION...Pretty nice tool. Hope that helps.

Try tools such as SEO Spyglass to see more backlinks than Google initially shows

When I'm checking my backlinks i use three method and every method give me different results. I copy/paste all data in excel format and than i arrange alphabetical . It's the only way to have an appropriate look at all your backlinks.
    I use yahoo siteexplorer
    backlinkwatch.com
seopro.com.au/free-seo-tools/link-checker/ (this tool givee PR for backlink, PR for domain and if it have Noffolow).
