Need some help teaching WP - from scratch. Searching for most effective method.

What is the best/easiest way to learn how to create/edit websites using WordPress? I've decided to hire a couple guys, primarily for help with my side businesses. Although I'm confident in their ability to learn quickly, neither has any website experience whatsoever. I am curious to know what some of you would recognize as a guide in relation to a "ground up" philosophy. My goal is for both of them to be able to put a basic website together from scratch, even if we need to start with a template or something along those lines. Eventually, they will each need to be managing 2 businesses by themselves. This includes blogging, writing/posting fresh content, creating/managing opt-in newsletters, sales pages - u get the idea.

    My questions here are...

    1. Should I hop on a site such as E-Lance.com and try to find someone who will do some "one on one" work with each of them.

    2. Is there a video series available for view or purchase that any of you recommend for the basics/back-end/incorporation of "ad-ons/plug-ins."

    3. Any other suggestions to get this obstacle out of the way ASAP. I'm ready to put them to work - they are both very out-going and will do great once the information is organized and presented in a decent fashion...

Although I have a feeling most of you will shy me away from this idea, has anyone tried the socratestheme? I know it's $80, but it has installation videos, along with other tutorials and webinars for WP. I feel like this would be a small investment in order to have both of them comfortable with the program/first steps...Here is the link...

Anyways - I appreciate you taking the time to check this out - looking forward to hearing from some of you!

Thanks and have a great day!

Thats a basic theme which can give you no help when it says SEO and other stuff.

Y dont you go to Thesis or WooThemes packages? They have excellent support and your associates can learn from hundreds of forums if they get stuck somewhere.

    Just my 2 cents.

Hiring 2 people with no previous knowledge of Wordrpess to run Wordpress is a long learning experience. I personally would recommend all of the above. Not sure about eLance...never worked through them, or hired from there, but you could definitely use an experienced Wordpress person if your intention is to get these sites up and running while you are training..or it will take forever.

I would recommend that you give your guys a copy of Wordpress for Dummies, send them to view the video tutorials on Wordpress.tv, and put them with your Wordpress person a few times a week via Skype or phone.

I'm sure you obviously already know that it would be cheaper and more cost efficient to just hire a full time Wordpress Webmaster.
