Need some help marketing my site.

I've got an eCommerce site, been online for 2 years and has made very little money because I've not been pushing it, now I want to do a marketing push and need some help.

The site itself is very good for what it does, it has a good shopping system (built by me), and is linked to from some excellent, relevant sites. I'm still not getting that much traffic coming through. I'm running adwords in relevent contries and for relevent keywords, but I'm not getting the 'critical mass' of traffic to start selling in any quantity (hey 1 or 2 a day will do for me!), they're high value, high margin goods.

They're niche goods, but in a relatively crowded marketplace, I'm regularly reaching the google front page on relevant listings, but not getting high up on the page. The site is probably the most slick looking of the market, having got plenty of comments about how good the site looks, so that's not an issue, the checkout system is very quick using both Google and Paypal.

What are your suggestions for turning the site around and getting some sales?

    Site is: http://www.rudevibrations.com/ (Semi-NSFW!)

You could signup to a link exchange and swap links. Have you submitted your site to directories and search engines?

It's on major search engines, ranks in google on the first or second page, not high up though. Directories I did a fire and forget to DMOZ, Yahoo! wants $699 per year to put it on there, so no way, other directorys yes I'm in the relevent niche ones, but hardly get any traffic from them.

I'm investigating my competitors and seeing where they get links from, and trying to build incoming links from similar sites. Adwords sort of works, but I don't get any leads, and only one or two newsletter signups per week, and I'm loath to give google any more money!

Luckily I have a site that earns me a few dollars a day with adsense, so that covers server costs. I recently moved to a dedicated server, so the site is 10x more responsive now.

Are you getting traffic but not sales or you need traffic to get the sales?

I'm getting around 120 unique visitors (3000 page views) per day. Bounce rate is around 20%. I think I need more traffic to get the sales. I don't think 120 uniques is very much, especially if you expect around 0.5% of uniques will convert. I've been getting basket additions (about 1-2 per day). I'm guessing the quality of the traffic isn't good, or they're just after perving images.

I already do to some extent, most of them have horrible rules about links in signatures, i.e. if it's commercial don't bother.

Try finding sites to trade links. The more links to site the less it will movie in Serp and higher rank it will have.
