You have to build similiar content. If those linked pages are missing, you will lose the PR.

so, there's no point in buying a PR5 "donuts" domain if i'm going to sell "potatoes" in there.

thanks, really needed some light in this one. :p

It will keep if there are old backlinks present. But the problem is most people buy links to get their sites a good PR and if it is dropped chances are high that the backlinks will be removed in near future.
Please correct me if I am wrong.

    Simply saying, PR is weak.
I mean Google's entire PR system.

Suppose I buy a PR domain(expired one) , google cached -- Will there be any indexing problem if I build a new site over it ??

If not cached - will it ever get indexed ?

    @MeetHere it will be indexed.
In the next updedt of Google DB it'll be indexed with the new content so there'll no have problems about that.
About the PR there's no need to have the same content as before.
The most major factors are the backlinks not the content!

    I asked this question because I bought a PR3 domain(expired one,not indexed but with google backlinks )
Then built a site, bought many relevant one-way links from PR5 and so..
The backlinks got increased in this update, but still it is not indexed :(

If you buy a PR domain with good permenant back links your PR may stay there.

From my own experience, I bought one PR3 , PR4 and PR5 domain before the last google PR update. I concentrated on maintaining the PR5 domain. Submitted to lot of directories and bought many links. As a result it stayed at PR5.
Other hand the PR4 domain dropped to PR2 because I didn't do anything other than opening a blog on that domain.
The PR3 stayed at PR3 since it got some permenant link from one or two good PR sites when I bought it.

So the bottom line is, you need to build content and keep getting links to keep/increase your existinf PR

When I registered some domains, they had PR4 but after a few days, the pR disappeared.
