i have chosen 3 keywords for my website (keywrd1, keywrd2, keywrd3) and when i searched through godaddy it seems like Keywrd1Keywrd2Keywrd3.com already taken and others are there. so i have planned to register a domain with hyphens Keywrd1-Keywrd2-Keywrd3.com, which is available for me. would it be fair to register the domain with hyphen? would this cause any trouble in the future?
If the keywords are not TMs the hyphen registration should be fine. The problem would be in the hyphens themselves since as you may know already names with hyphens are not considered so valuable.
If you're buying for resale, those 2 hyphens would kill the value of it. As for SEO, it'd help a bit.
This is the common opinion of the domainers. But they are fine if you want to develop a site that will get the traffic from search engines. Their value is lower when it concerns direct navigation (I assume because it is more likely that people write a name without hyphens in the address bar).
Try adding "my" before the keywords or "pro" at the end. In my opinion adding prefix or suffix that makes sense is better than registering a domain name with a dash! Good luck!
I agree with TechBucks , there must be a lot of available domains if you add "i" or "e" in front of the domain name. Also try no to use hyphens if for marketing purposes. If for SEO , it would be good
i slightly disagree! with dashes the keywords are easily recognizable. i have about 2 sites with dashes www.best-php-scripts.com www.mysql-apache-php.com and my perception is people can easily remember with dashes. so long as you have good content in your site, i think domain name plays a little role.
Ok, but this doesn't mean that these sites wouldn't be better without dashes. If someone dies at the age of 98 and has been smoking his all life, it does not mean that smoking is healthy. Rather than that, it's very possible that he would live up to 102 without smoking.
