It seems that everytime I start my computer up, it takes ages to load! At the beginning the computer loads up fine, but then you have to wait 5 even 10 minutes to be able to click an icon say Mozilla firefox for example. And then it goes back to normal! Being fast again. I made the virtual memory higher, and it's still doing the same thing? Any suggestions that could help me? :/
If you have sufficient ram you can try disabling the pagefile but... If you are running a computer with a windows operating system the most likely culprit is a spyware infection. I recommend simply backing up the data you wish to keep on a separate partition and reformatting your current partition. While this may seem a daunting task... This is a far simpler task than attempting to salvage an infected machine which quite frankly is a task you are unlikely to be up to. Once a machine is comprimised you can never be certain that it is clean. Make sure to install a firewall this time (I like comodo as its free and suits my needs) and be more careful with what programs you allow to access your machine. I also recommend disabling any anti-viral software and only running it while the computer is not in use as these programs tend to be more overhead than they are worth. If you are foolhardy enough to try to purify your computer my choice of tools are spybot (without teatimer), hijackthis! and nod32.
My cousin had a similar problem. Check to make sure that there are no other applications running in the background that can suck up processing power. Also make sure that there are no viruses on your computer. There are many good virus protection software that you can download for free. Another thing that you can try is to defragment your hard drive. Basically it moves your files around so that the disk runs more efficient which means faster read times. It won't effect your files in any way. Think of it like putting the books back in there rightful places so it's easier to find.
Check for spy ware, then run msconfig Start > run > msconfig and then disable services which are not related to programs installed on your pc or that you know of. Also run a defrag and check for viruses.
Check for virus, spy wares, disable unwanted programs during start up by editing msconfig, clean and defrag your hard drive
Hi There Check my Slow PC Fix guide in my sig. Also, despite what other people say, DO NOT USE MSCONFIG to disable startup entires. This is for troubleshooting purposes only. Using MSCONFIG still leaves the item in the registry which can cause all sorts of problems. Use Autoruns instead. Any questions, just ask. Regards
disable all your start-up items in msconfig. start > run > msconfig. you can also remove files in your start-up folder. start > all programs > startup
is a format. Make sure to make a separate NTFS partition for both your data and operating system so that it takes less time to separate the two when you inevitably commit future user errors. Windows is a fickle creature.
To remove viruses and get rid of malware, you need to scan your computer with an antivirus program like Avira or AVG and malware removers like Spybot and MalwareBytes.
things to do: 1)start-run-msconfig- configure it the way u like. 2)check for antivirus behavior. 3) check malware and spywares in your system(spywaredoctor is the best available software. 4)if none works. try formatting the system and get a good antivirus. (kaspersky , avira, avg , norton, are good ones)
use start>run>msconfig command to disable unwanted start-up programs and use avast antivirus 4.80 Home edition. Avast doesn't make the processing slow and also works as trojan remover.
Or you could just not be so impatient and give it a minute to sort it's "brain" and do self system checks. Providing you don't have any bugs of course. Grab a coffe in the mean time. The new OS systems have a pile of data to crunch.
