Hi DPeans, I have some query regarding my site: For example: I own a website say: abc.com and server for this site is in US. My target market is UK and European countries (let me tell you one condition that, I can’t change the server location to UK or any other place). As I have already launched language specific sub-domains (nl.abc.com, dk.abc.com, pt.abc.com etc etc.) and all of the sub-domains are doing well in search engine rankings in their respective search engine Data Centers. Am targeting some keywords in abc.com to get rankings on search engines with .co.uk - as am already in good position in ranking on search engines with .com – but unable to get ranking on search engines with .co.uk (after done a so much onsite and offsite promotions) – this may be because of my domain having .com extension and hosted on US server. If this is the case then why my sub-domains getting in rankings… So my question is: am planning to launch one new sub-domain that is: uk.abc.com Will this really help me to get rankings on search engines with .co.uk? Will search engine count this sub-domain as a different identity (no-doubt I will keep all the content unique in my sub-domain)? Looking for some good response and every response would be appreciated… Thanks dynamicseo
Nah.. Dont ever mind to create a subdomain. It will only make your site more harder to optimize because instead of optimizing one website, you will be optimizing 2. My advice for you is to optimize it in your target location.. For example you are doing directory submission, you should be listing your website in per region rather than in global categories. Or if you're doing forum, you can get involve in forums related to your website plus that targets in your target location.
i would use a .co.uk if possible to target the uk. or else, sign into google webmaster tools, and set the geographic location for the sub domain to the UK.
Thanks for your valuable suggestions by the way - targeting as per my geolocation category - but the thing is that Search Engines always give more importance to the sites hosted in the local servers... right ? In any way i can optimize two sites at a time... that is not the problem with me. My concern is should i really go with launching one new sub-domain that is uk.abc.com or not... ?
