    Hello,

I am hoping some members with more Domain experience than I do can help me out.

My situation is this- I cannot register the .com of my choice (Let's say it's- widgetreviews.com) so what I need to know is...

    Would you

    A) Register "mywidgetreviews.com" instead- adding the "my" in front of it to keep it as a .com

    or

    B) Use the original name but register it as a .net like- "widgetreviews.net"

Thanks in advance for your help.

I would go with the .net. It is unrestricted and .coms are just getting to scarce.

if youre planning to make this your main site, youre going to want the .com, registering the .net just makes their .com more valuable and more expensive later on. i would find another .com variant

If the .com domain name of your choice is very successful and big then using .net version of that site will harm you. Suppose you want to register youtube.com but as it is unavailable you go to youtube.net .. You can easily understand what I mean and how it will harm you.
