    Hiyya!

Its been ages since I ran a directory and even then it was a half effort attempt so this time I'm ready to try again.

What i would like to know is...

    1) Is it best to set up all the categories and sub categories and then gain backlinks for pagerank before I open submissions? (the plan is for the directory to be paid only).

    and...

    2) Is it important to use the meta description and meta keyword function for every cat and sub cat?

    Thanks if anyone could help!

    Debra :)

Do a unique category structure, populate it yourself with authority sites, then go and buy links till you drop..

    Hello..

Let me ask you how do you plan on getting links if your site isnt together?
    Not many would accept,...
I suggest you get your directory catagorys done ...then out after its ready for a few free submits
for content or whatever your plans may be...

    Much success to you...

    thx

If you are starting from scratch 100% do a unique structure and yes fill out all the meta tag info if you want search engines to find it as a serach result and not just in a crawl.

I bought one and this weekend I'm going to redo all the categories. I mean all of them people will figure it out. If you use the basic ones it's the same as everyone else.

I have talked to alot of different guys. I'd write a GOOD objective article on directories and then pay someone here to submit to like 300 article websites. Some say that is old news and you only need the top 5 or so but that is my suggestion.

Then I'd pay someone here to do a free submit. I'd pay extra or ask if you can so you can give multiple anchor and descriptions.

Then when you start selling links. Do it monthly / bi monthly or bi annuall or annually just never sell for life. You sell a feture for 5-20$ now but in 2 years after LOTS of hardwork you are PR5 or PR6 and can Get ALOT more. Now the problem is your feature section is already totally filled and you have so many pages that if people pay you for alink they get a PR0 because they are on page 5.

As Ask said populate it yourself. I'm going to open some niche ones and I'm going to go to the services area and ask if people will submit sites such as.

    5 cents for a PR4-6
    10 cents for a PR6+

For 10$ you'll get 100-200 QUALITY links because remember when someone is going to pay they want to make sure t's quality. I wouldnt pay for an inclusion if the guy above me is some crappy spam / scrap site.

I know I"m new to the directory game but I've talked to alot of people and I know this technique works.

That's my $0.02 ... well probably alittle more I'm a long winded guy.

Forget about it, if you want it done right you have to do it yourself, at Ask I populated with around 500 sites it took me days to chose the sites, and write the descriptions.

Some people that think themselves as genius of the directory industry launch a paid directory with no listings on it and rely only on paid submissions to populate; you have several problems on this model.
    - the directory is worthless for visitors, because almost enpty
    - the listings are biased to only sites that paid for a listing no "autority", .edu .gov .org sites.
    don’t do the same mistake.

Makes sense. Option 2 I guess would be just to pay people to collect domains CHEAP and rank PR. Take the ones you want and than write your own descriptions.

You could also grab them all yourself just make sure you don't burn out :)
