I currently run a company in the Northeast U.S. where hospitals charge patients a daily fee to rent the in room television (and phone). We have a call center that remotely activates and deactivates the televisions and collects billing info (we then commission the hospital). Currently we process these charges via credit card and use to place the charges onto a patient's (or family/friend) home telephone bill. Obviously with cell phones eliminating home land lines the home telephone option is a thing of the past. My question to all of you is....is there an alternative model that would allow for SMS billing of these daily fees? The charges would not be placed on a day to day basis (or could) and we could/would even do a prepayment model where the patient/family/friend would authorize a prepayment of say 3-5 days and a charge in the range of $20-$30. Any other ideas would be appreciated and please keep in mind that we really have no presence in the hospitals. The patients televisions/telephones are off and they dial a 4 digit extension to our call center to get them activated. We then collect the billing info and send the command to turn the television on. Thanks in advance for any insight/help.
