    Hi All

I have been asked to make a website for someone selling phones and accessories. I originally planned to setup paypal transactions for the money, but the guy told me he cannot setup a paypal account (lives in Mauritius). How can i get around this?

I have looked at neteller, is this the same? Only problem i am worried about, will customers need a neteller account to purchase a phone?

Is they any other way to receive money from selling goods online, which doesn’t require the customer to sign up to anything?

    Regards
    Alex James

Your best choice would be google checkout, 2checkout, alertpay and moneybookers. Neteller is only ever really used for gambling sites as far as ive seen.

This google checkout looks interesting, do you have one of these accounts yourself? So i can simply display a phone, add a buy now button and it will take the customer to google checkout and they can buy the goods without signing up to google themselve???

having owned an online store when i lived in Mauritius about 2 years ago, i can tell you it was a disaster at first!
as you said, paypal doesn't like us Mauritians so i opened an account thx to a foreign CC i had, but still had issues with them.
i later found a free CC processing company based in Sweden (i'll pm you the name when i remember it), their fees were pretty high on small amounts (20% com for transaction lower then 10$), but i took it off the client so it was ok. They would later transfer it to my bank account.

your client can still go through Paypal, depending on the volume of transactions it might be worthwhile.
here's what he can do :
    * setup an online us bank account, dunno how much it costs, but you can find some info about here right here on DP http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?t=314177
    * Some banks in Mauritius are branches of international banks (Barclays, BNP, HSBC) or operate branches in Europe (MCB) ; he can apply for a foreign account with them so he'll be registered in europe.
    * Many Mauritians have a bank account in the neighboring island, Reunion, which is French territory (absolutely nor problem with paypal).

Let me know if i can help you in any other way.

    good luck with the project
