Hi everyone, I just joined this forum and am totally new to PPC advertising. Is there anything important I should know before I sign up for something like AdBrite or AdSense? I know that depending on the nature of your site, different services work better than some, but are there any that should be avoided, such as sites that are frauds or contain hidden fees? I'm only asking because AdBrite asks for a social security number and I want to make sure there's no chance of identity theft or anything like that. I haven't seen anything online about AdBrite being faudulent, but it's always good to double-check.

From what I heard and tested, AdBrite is a company that can be trusted. But their payment methods are pretty bad if I remember well. 60 days to get your payments.

Does that depend on how much you set the minimum check amount? I was thinking of setting it to $50, but I don't know if that's too high or too low. I honestly don't think my site (when I decide what I'm actually going to put on it) will get very much traffic, so I don't know if I'll get a very good payout at all.

when you sign up,you sign up as a publisher and advertiser.
if you were to click the 'click here' to set up an ad it doesn't ask for SSN.
i wouldn't worry about adbrite stealing your identity.they make a ton of money, your a peon to them. :D

it doesn't matter what your minimum check amount is.it's net-60(what you make this month you get paid in march).my first check was 20¢.:)

Thanks. I already signed up with them using my SSN, but oh well.

One other thing: I'm not going to lie. . .I'm only making a website so I can put some PPC ads on it and hopefully make some money. Really, all I need now is an idea of what kind of website to make. I really can't think of any reason to make one, though. What should I do?

Oh, and I've heard that the PPC companies do not like it when you click on your own ads (duh), but how do they know if you do? Do they monitor the IP of people who click their ads or something?

I suggest you try a CMS, content management script, no messy coding and easy money.
PPC companies will ban you and not pay you if you click your own ads, or do click fraud.

To make the most money, I recommend (my own) PPC Freedom of Ads
    Publisher.freedomofads.com
    They give 100% revenue share

What's a content mangagement script? And is freedom of ads content-based or is it like AdBrite, where it's random, but you can set content filters and things like that?

Also, I know that click-fraud is not allowed, but how is it regulated? What prevents someone from visiting their site from another computer and clicking? Is it just the frequency of the clicks (like a no-traffic site suddenly getting 20 page views in 1 minute)?

CMS: just install one script, and you can have articles, videos on your site, whoch will all be posted by your visitors
Freedom of Ads is keyword based, so you can select keywords, any, and they will display ads related to the keywords. They do a scan once in a while to make sure your getting max profits

Click fraud is detected in a lot of ways, including IP. Nothing really prevents that, but they do flag suspicious activity as well. I know for a fact what AdBrite, Bidvertiser and Clicksor track, but I'm not about to release those for free...

How does the CMS script work? What does it literally do to your site? Does it modify an existing site or do you build a site around it?

    Haha. . .ok, fair enough.
