Hello, Im new to the forum so i apologize in advance if this post is placed in the wrong place. I have worked as an freelance web developer part-time since i was 17 (8 years experience in that field) and worked in digital marketing for about 4 years (full time while taking a bachelor in it). I have taken a UX certification last year. From 2016-2019 i worked in an Digital marketing agency while I took a bachelors degree in Digital marketing and did well enough marketing my self through Linkedin and blogging to get recruited by a big travel company (100 M in revenue - 10 M through ecom) to become the E-commerce Manager. Since I started, Ive been proactive and have taken on more than my position requires. I have total responsibilites for the websites in the company (UX, CRO, performance - You name it) and the communication with our web agency, design agency and all our digital partners. They are very happy with the work ive done so far and are saying im kind of filling two roles efficiently and are getting very good feedback. I report to the Marketing Manager. In a couple of months (when I have worked here a year) I will be 26 yo, and heading into annual reviews and salary negotiations and i am looking for some advice on a couple of things: 1. My title is a little bit misleading Since I am responsible for almost anything regarding the Websites and UX in the company in addition to the E-commerce part of the job. My boss hinted that my title (E-commerce Manager) is a bit misleading for my responsibilities so far. Do you have some suggestions on what a more fitting title should be? It should reflect the web/ux part also. 2. My pay and benefits package Its not a lot of statistics on pay for E-commerce Managers in my country. I have multiple special experteses (e-commerce, cro, advanced analytics, email marketing and advanced digital marketing in general) I make 55.000 usd before taxes, I think im due for a bump (not the regular 3-5%) What do you think based on my situation? I also get called from recruiters on a regular basis. ____ Hope this all made some sense - Any general advice on the above and my general situation would be gratefully appreciated. Best regards
You will be in a much better negotiating position if you follow up with those recruiters and also search for some local jobs to see what type of compensation others are willing to offer you. In fact, if you have a better offer in hand when you are going through your review, you will have the confidence and necessary knowledge to push for as much as you can. I would advise against letting your current employer know that you have been looking and/or have another offer; that fact is to keep in your pocket and use only if you do not get what you feel is a fair offer at your review.
