    HI

I have just recently joined DP but have heard wonderful things, so here I am with my questions? :)

I have a product (I created) I have the sales page up and a squeezepage, my question is, should I have a main site and then link to my squeezepage and salespage, or just have my main site the salespage and get traffic to that?

I'm pretty good at web designing and putting a blog up, but not sure which way to go. I've been considering putting a blog up and having it link to salespage and have the salespage link back, is this a good idea or not?

I can build the sites with original content and good content, just getting it out there and indexed seems to be my issue.

My biggest question is it a good idea to have a salespage as your main page? Or should I build a quality blog with content?

thanks can't wait to hear back, all I've read here is outstanding information

    Laura

    Hi Laura and welcome

I would link from the blog to the squeeze page and place the sales page on the site as the main page.

I would not link the sales page back to the blog...this would just have your traffic going back and forth when what you want to do is funnel them to the sales page.

If you want to trade some design work for marketing work send me a PM

    :)

    What is the product, Laura?

If it is a how-to e-book, for example, you should give free sample, tips from it to increase sales. Then thjrow in a good sales pitch, along with other jazz, and put your ordering form right there on the same page.

Get them to strike while the iron is hot. Sort of speak.

Just experiment. But I would seriously consider throwing out the squeeze page because most will not give you their e-mail address.

Why should they, just so they can read more?

In addition, of the ones who do sign up, some of them will put in gibberish, just so they can get in: .

Most people will go to a sales page than a board or a blog, as most people are not interested in them.

You want the odds in your favor, right?

It's kind of hard to say much more, without knowing what your product is.

I would also recommend to link from the blog to the squeeze page and place the sales page on the site as the main page.

What I would do is have your squeeze page what everyone hits and have your blog seperate. If they want to visit your blog they should just type /blog on the end of your website address. If you wan't to get more sales make them visit your squeeze page first.

There is no point having a link to your squeeze page because who really would click that link to go to a squeeze page? when they can just access all your information straight away.

Thanks everyone, what you say makes sense.

I'd put my link in my sig but I have to have 10 posts and I just joined
yesterday. But will definitely do that.

Oh Perry, I have an ebook on web design basics geared toward the newbie
so to say the least I am having dealing with a broad niche

My main thing is whether to send traffic to squeeze page to build my list, and/or my salespage to make money or both.

    Thanks
    Laura

Oh, ok, I got ya, Laura.

Feel comfortable enough to post your site?

A lot of people are looking for help with their web design, so I don't think you'll have any trouble when you start to advertise it.

    Here's one http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?t=806633&page=2

    ;-)

Well, anyway, like I said, you should consider not doing the squeeze page as most do not like them. Why do something that most do not like?

If your first-time visitors likes your sales page, that should also have free tips, samples from your e-book, there is no reason to have a squeeze page anyway.

    Is there?

You can put up a newsletter subscription box, but on something like this you can give them just so much free info.

I personally don't like newsletters either. Too many moochers. :)~ And I already have plenty of free tips for them to read on the site, so....

I think you should consider having a nice, short sales page, show 'em samples of your work and a price to do each one (People want to see prices!), offer free tips, and then have a mail-in form on the same page for them to send you an e-mail.

Hit them at the heat of the moment.

You could also offer a "free quote and critique within 48 hours."

Just that alone will get you a lot of e-mail addresses.

In fact, you can do that in this site. They have three forums, I think, in which to get e-mail address in this manner. Offer them free advice and critiques, and then let them know to send you an e-mail if they would like to improve their site.

In fact, Laura, I am revamping my site, and I'm half tempted to get your opinion on it. :)

Yeah I see what youre saying Perry, has always seemed an extra step not sure I should do, squeezepage and sales page, I need to build a list :)

One thing I've thought of doing also/instead? is to build simple content sites and sell them, I've been doing a few within different niches. Trying now to get their seo up and pr

I enjoy building sites, but more for myself as I'm Not a programmer, and I'm Not a graphics designer, I like to just put up simple content sites and product sites.

Ok was going to give you link and just saw that ALL my sites are down, just contacted support about it, but if you want to try it's at www. laurasbasicstowebdesign. com /ebook

It says it's suspended which is bull since I own the server lol
I've contacted support so will have to wait and see what they say.
