Need some advice on Blog

I have started a blog on just general business thoughts and such. I am using blogspot. My goal is to get feed back from readers (kind of like a forum), while mainly keeping it my ideas, thoughts, notes, etc. on business matters. I don't have much money right now, so I am using one of these free sites for hosting. Plus I am not very skilled with coding, so it makes much more easy on me. My question is: is there ways to optimize for search engines while using their layouts? Thanks.

You can use any template provides by the blogger, try to choose new blogger template, customize it according to you, its very easy. You can use web analytics to track your visitors. If you have fresh content on your blog, it will rank in google search engine that will support to get better organic visitors. If you want to earn money by your blog, you can publish google ads on blog. Try to get some link for you blog on another related blogs. I think these can help you. Blogspot provide an option to edit the HTML code and its quite easy to edit the code, you just need to put useful and relevant Title and meta tags in the head section on the top of the code. Also you need to add the verification code provided by Google Webmaster and the tracking code by Google Analytics to the code itself. You can do it yourself or you can take help of someone if you feel that you are so technical enough.

Just do the basics. Make sure to optimize the title and description of your blog. Make the title of you posts keyword rich. use bold, italics, strong and h1 tags. Write useful content. And links, links, links.

Thank you so much! Also, (I've built a site before about 2 years ago with a guy who could code. We were trying get approved for adwords. Finally got.) I remember we needed to learn about "meta tags," however I've since forgotten what they are and how to use them. Any advice there? Or where I could go to read about how to use them. Thanks again.

well <h> tags are used to emphasize important texts/ KWs on a web page and it is helpful in doing SEO.

Ah yes, I remember this now. Thank you so much, I would have forgotten about using the <h> tags (as stupid as that sounds).
