    Hey guys,

I am looking to invest and start up some new whitehat niche sites, I have never really gone into this, except for one or two sites that are still alive doing decently. Anyway, I will be using CPA on these sites bu that's not really what I am about to ask.

I plan on working at the SEO of it to make sure I can get good rankings, it isn't an extremely competitive niche, but it may be a little difficult, it gets good traffic so it will be worth it. I know sites can't get great rankings within a few days, but want to be pushed in the right direction.

Now, I need help with what I can do to get backlinks and build towards higher rankings:

Here is what I have done:
    1) Made one post on the site (created the site yesterday) - submitted it to rss feeds, social bookmark.
    2) Had two articles written and submitted them to ezine, should be approved within a week
    3) Create and submitted a sitemap to Google
    4) Optimized the keywords, tags, titles and the basic SEO stuff

This what I plan on doing:
    1) One post a day on the site
    2) Another few articles that I submit to other directories
    3) Dofollow blog commenting (if so, how many comments a day)
    4) Website directory submission (if so, how many submissions a day)

So yeah, I'd like and be thankful for more ideas, I just need a basic step by step plan I can follow to get my site on the right track and then increase the workload to get it ranking well.

Sorry if I am asking a bit much, but if everyone can add some advice, that would be great!

    Thanks :)

All the techniques mentioned above will give some impact to your SEO, but will require too much time to do it regularly and as required.

One of the best working strategies (for me) is to check what your competitors do and where do they get links from (for example, what are the forums and blogs they use for obtaining backlinks) - then do much the same things (well, actually, you only need to follow their best and working techniques)

There're lot's of tool to find your competitors' backlinks like BacklinkWatch, SEO SpyGlass, SEOmoz, etc. I personally use SEO Spyglass for that - it give much more information than other tools, plus it has a free version.

Thanks for that mate, sounds like something I thought of but had forgotten to include.

Nonetheless, that will help out; anyone else is free to add more advice :)

Best to start slowly and build up your backlinks. I'd suggest only 2 or 3 comments a day - the page rank of the blog you submit them to will determine how quickly it will be picked up by Google (ie the higher the better).
