Hi good people happy easter.. I own and run a games portal UG2.com and my search engine traffic is very low? I have tried lots of things from article submissions, link exchanges, sitewide link exchanges, submitting to social media sites and tried to be everywhere i can.. I have had good success with search engines with my other sites but they have keywords in the domain eg MiniBikeGames.com Can someone with SEO expertise review my site http://www.ug2.com and give me some tips.. Also do I have to many outbound links on my pages?? Again happy easter Regards, Wazza
This is not the right forum for SEO reviews, this site has a dedicated section for that - SEO reviews. Are you trying to target 'free online games' or 'online car games' as the main keywords? Those are of course very competitive and you will need to good amount of link building before you get some love from search engines. I know you have 44000 links to that site including many links to category pages.. but it's a competitive niche Avoid link exchanges or sitewide link exchanges altogether, you are harming your site more than you are helping it. Why do all your 'game pages' have this title - xxx Click Here to Play xxx? No h1 tag on the 'game page'. Category page looks okay I also think you have just too many outgoing links in the footer.
Yes, drop some links from the footer, that's not good. Work on building one way links. More content means more food for the SE's, keep your keywords in your content, but keep adding more content. Make sure you read up if you're going to be doing your off site work yourself. Sometimes links pointing to your site can be harmful in the SERPS depending on where they are coming from.
@jitendraag thank you very much for your reply I really aprreciate it. Yes very competitive keywords, but I did get a site on page 2 of google for "online games" and about 5 or 6 first page rankings for other really competitive keywords like online war games, fishing games and a few othrs. Its just this site UG2 is really frustrating me, Im thinking its because of the domain name? The other sites I have ranked for had keywords in the domain name itself.. All game pages do have h1 tags? I had the xxx Click Here to Play xxx in my titles cause i thought it might increase click through rate in search engine? Is that a bad idea to have that, should I scrub it and just have game title and maybe a keyword??? Sorry for posting it this section of the forum to, I didnt realise there was another seaction till after I wrote this post.. @xInd Thank you as well I think I might minimise my outgoing links well? I have been thinking about it but kinda didnt want to cause a lot of people will be ticked off about losing links to their site? I guess If I let them all know before hand it might not be so bad?? Thank you. Mods please feel free to move this to the correct forum, sorry..
Since you are targeting a very high competitive keywords and jitendraag already gave you a great advice. I would like to add a little more. 1. You should not worry too much about domain name. I did not say keyword in domain does not help, but many sites can archive an excellent ranking in such a high competitive keywords without a help of it. UG2.com is easy to remember and branding advantage. 2. Concentrate and consistency on link building, one-way is a plus. I do understand if you cannot get those footer links to be dropped for now. But at least - stop doing link exchange in sitewide. This is an old trick and could hurt your site in a long run. Otherwise you have already done a good job from SEO perspective.
Thanks Sxperm, I decided to drop the footer links hope Im doing the right thing. I will now concentrate on article links and other one way links that I can get. What have i got to lose lol..the site is doing really bad in search anyway..
Write a content that will captures the interest of the readers then use the combination of article submission and power of social bookmarking and social networking. You can also use the link wheel to boost the traffic of your site.
