I am already on the third page for my keyword 'yarra valley accommodation' within Australian google. Hoping to make it onto the first page in the top 5 or 6 results - just wondering if anyone has any tips on taking that extra step forwards. Haven't spent any money on search engine optimization yet and am already on the third page, so I can't see it being too hard to break into that first page. Just wondering if anyone can tell me what they think would be the best way in my case to improve rankings?
Keep getting text links pointing to your site with the anchor text "yarra valley accommodation" You probably won't need to many more links to get you on to the 1st page. It's a really easy term to rank for. I would also switch up your anchor text a bit so it looks more natural. You can submit your site to free directories for the anchor text you need, or you can do some link trading.
Blonde Jon is just right. Keep getting as many links as possible--step by step --once your have good amount of backlinks and when they are cached --you will get on top --not just 5/6th position.
Hello, Try to buy or exchange link with Travel realted websites Your anchor text should be yarra valley accommodation Best regards, Jakomo
Thanks for the replies guys, Just a follow up - should I go all out and buy 10 PR7 Links in order to ensure getting to the top, or would I be safe to just go ahead and buy a fair few PR4or PR5 backlinks and hope to get higher. Just need to sort of know how much I will be looking at spending if I want to buy enough text links to get to the top. Current pagerank is 4 and I am on the bottom of the third page. Thanks again guys, much appreciated, Rob.
Hello, No........, is not necessary to buy 10 PR7, well is you have the money do it, but buying PR2, PR3, PR4 links.... is all right! Do you have PR4 but what is your anchor text on backlinks? Are you using yarra valley accommodation as anchor text? Best, Jakomo
First thing I should say, the site I am trying to get to first page is not the one in my sig. Yes the site does have PR4, but have not bought any backlinks, they have simply been given by other travel websites without purchase so not sure on anchor text and the like. How many backlinks would I have to purchase with decent PR in order to get up on that front page?
Hello, Don't worry about your PR, the most important here is back link with your anchor text, How many? Really we dont know, I dont know about your site, and I dont know about your competence.... but as I saw on Google, maybe you need around 50 to 80 backlinks.... to rank top ten.... Best, Jakomo
i agree. PR is not necessary but its and an advantage. Just try to get as many links as you can and you'll be fine.
G'day Rob, It's good to see another Victorian on the forums! Just a quick note: Be careful with your linking strategy. Google is able to detect spikes and plateaus in links, as well as lots of links coming from high PR sites all of a sudden. And it's easy for them to spot links which all have the same identical text. So try to keep your link building looking like they're "natural" links - that people are just choosing to link to you. As for how many links you need... PR isn't as important as what it used to be. If you have "perfect" on-page SEO, then all things being equal he who has the most [quality] links will win. I had a quick look at page 3 of the results.. I'm guessing that you're running one of the B&B's listed? If so, there might be some simple on-page changes you can make to improve your ranking too. I realise you probably don't want to reveal your domain on the forums, but if you want to PM me or e-mail me I'd be happy to help you out. Hawksdomain, one simple, almost painfree way to move up for "Yarra Valley Accommodation" is to submit daily to the free or paid directories on this forum. As you probably already know, they may be found at http://forums.digitalpoint.com/forumdisplay.php?f=65. Each day there are 3-5 or more new, free directories (plus paid ones) on that page. Have two or three alternate "anchor texts" — such as "Yarra Valley Accommodation", perhaps "Accommodations in the Yarra Valley" and maybe another that includes those three key words. I would suggest using your primary one (Yarra Valley Accommodation) as the title in most, but not all, directory submissions. Throw the others in every few directory submissions to show the search engines some variety. This simple and easy procedure will quickly build for you a good number of inbound links with the anchor text you are desiring to score highly with. And by doing it daily on this forum's Solicitations page, you will avoid the undesirable spikes of a ton of links coming in all at once. Best wishes!
