Hi, I have a health related site " How to stay Fit " and I need tips on optimizing it to rank well for long tail keywords...I prefer that Its relatively easy to rank well for long tail keywords rather than specific words...And my site is niche site,so it would be great if i rank well for long tail keywords like "how to stay healthy" and so on...So please post your tips and suggestions
Long tail keywords seem to be the way to go now. What you should do is make sure your long tail is in the title and the first paragraph. Joanne

i agree to you point it is easy to optimise for long tail keyword with less competition but there is no worth for it. you know why people are optimising their site to get top rank in search engine especially google, to get more visitors(customer). so for that the keyword which we are using it to optimise our site should be very popular and commonly used keyword eg : http://how-to-stay-fit.info you can optimise for the keyword health, fitness, health care etc., if you are really interested to optimise your website do approach me for free quote and SEO report.
proper SEO, keyword research, content creation base from target keyword then do link building with different anchor target keywords.
Heres some pointers that I noticed quickly, I'm sure theres more things but I dont have time to check it thoroughly. You arent using h1 tags, you should use your main keywords in this. Use css to format it to look like normal content/headers Your ALT tags on images are not good. Change them to include some keywords Change your page title to help rank for a specific term Consider switching off adverts and build some backlinks To elaborate a little, nobody is going to link to an MFA site. You should remove the google adverts (without scrolling down I cant see any content at all, just spammy looking ad's), and then try and build backlinks. Once you have links etc, you can put the ad's back in as its unlikely anyone will then remove your links.
It seems that you only have a few pages of your own content. You should definitely work to add more content. And as Vic mackey said - tone down the ads a bit. Ads are fine, but there should always be more content than ads.
Start submitting to free directories. That will get it indexed and give it a little boost short-term. You can then start focusin on getting link requests after.
