Is organic worth the time/effort for this funny t-shirt website... if so where should i concentrate my link building?
Or should I stick to paid search?

    Thanks!

you can start with directory submission, and then post relevant comments on related blogs.. Join some highly active forums related to your niche which allow signature links, and make it a habit to make 5-10 posts daily.

If you have the time you can definately build your site ranking yourself.

I would look at your site with the customer in mind and I am sure you have already. What term would a person use if they were going to buy the clothing on your site? Are you selling national or locally?

I started our SEO by looking for trade magazines where I could put the website into. Then I looked at forums and signed up for forums like the one that we are on now. This site is one of my backlinks.

There is also another tool that I came accross. It is called WebCeo. It is a software tool that is very powerful and free. It will automatically, after you give it the information, submit your site to different directories. That is a great help. It also has a tool that will help you refine key words. You can compare top ranking sites to yours and see what makes them rank high. Then you will know what to do within your words.

I have been at it for two months and it is starting to pay dividends

It looks like you are using Google Analytics. That and webmaster are great tools.

    Hope this helps

You should comment on blogs that are relevant to your websites, submit your site to web directories, join forums, and use social bookmarking sites.

    hope it helps.

    Drew,

Today I found a site that had a list of the top 500 most important websites. This is a very inportant piece because you can get your site backlinked through some of them. Many have a groogle PR of 7-8.

    http://www.seomoz.org/top500/pages

As an example, Statcounter is Number 50. I went to their site and put my information into it with my website and it created a backlink for me.

One thing that is also important to know is that some sites you can put your information in but the search engines do not search because they have a no-follow in their page code. The way to check this is to install the no-follow tool in firefox You can tell if the link is a no-follow...it will turn red. If it is a follow link then...it will turn blue when clicked in tab.

The links in my signature are follow links by the search engines.
