    I'm currently writing a school management web app, basically that schools can use to have teachers post grades/attendance, get reports, message each other, etc... and so students/parents can login and check their grades.

    my start is http://eschool.rcoders.com/ and you can login with user: student password: student .... I'm still working hard on it, but I'm wondering if anyone thinks this could have a potential selling ability with time?

    I think you need to improve on the GUI to make it more navigable and easy for first time users.

    I can't comment on the viability of it though.

    @sakto,

    Alright, that's a respectable notion... My only question to you would be, how so? I have the easily usable navigation on the left, and most of the main content will be on the right. The app is in WAY EARLY stages of development, so other than the main page, no links really work, and there's not much else to see yet... so you may have been hitting dead pages trying to navigate?

    are the links on the left not enough to navigate the basics fluidly?

    It certainly has potential, but just like everything else... Do you think people will want to use it? Teachers already have so much work so having to update grades online might not seem so interesting for them and what if they make a mistake online and don't notice it themself?

    Example: Some idiot gets an A for some test and his parents are really excited, but the teacher gave a wrong input and the idiot should've gotten a C :p I don't think that'd be a good thing for the teacher. Just shooting rockets here :) i like the idea.

    No, I definitely understand where you're coming from. The thing is, my school, and alot of other high schools use applications like this already, and they are pretty inferior or inefficient to what I have planned. However I'm not sure if I should put all of the work into it if I thne have to go out and promote it hard to schools all over. I'm thinking my classifieds web app would be easier and I could sell that online.

    Well, all depends on pricing.
    There is already another system out, that is very heavy developed...

    I'm sure if you made yours cheaper though, schools on a budget would opt for your system.
    Anyhow, onto design...the overall look is quite good, esp. that menu on the left, however I don't like the tables for the grades on the right. Spice it up a little, and give the cells some padding.

    Useful site. Just change the color for the s1 & s2 columns, it hide the content when select it. Check it..

    I think it's a nice site. The only thing I would change is the fonts inside the app. You should use Arial or Verdana for a more professional look and feel.
