need Registrar who won't jerk you around, takes paypal, and does co.uk

I found an unregistered domain name that I think could be worth a LOT in a couple months. The only problem is, there could be trademark issues and I've heard that godaddy has been known to just take domains from people so I don't want to use them, but I need another host that takes paypal, does .co.uk's, and has a good reputation. Any advice? Also I need to be able to transfer the domain/point it to dreamhost servers. Thanks in advance:)

Namecheap.com is and does all of this, except right now they're having a PayPal issue they're trying to get resolved.

It seemed it would be resolved quick but that didn't happen, read the above quote, that explains it more. No idea when, it should be something simple to resolve but I guess not. I use namecheap for all my domains, they're definitely recommended by me.

If you send the payment to me via paypal I can get you the domain and transfer it to you, if they allow me to transfer a domain right away, I'll go see if there's info. I have funds in my account. ;) I can get it for $7.99 with a coupon.

name.com (sister register of domainsite under the company roof) has the same problems. In fact i thought it was name's error. I payed with CC and passed this problem

And what else have you "heard" from those people? Some people make wrong
assumptions due to incomplete or inaccurate information.

Go Daddy and other registrars are mandated to lock a domain upon receipt of
notice of a filed trademark infringement dispute. If they're eventually notified
that the complaining party won, then they'll eventually transfer the domain
    name to them.

Nothing wrong with that. You just have to be fully aware.

What exactly are you looking for anyway, aside from supporting .uk domains
and accepting paypal? The more specifics, the better.

Moniker is good. They take PayPal, has a bunch of ccTLDs avaliable, and are second to none when it comes to customer support and service.

Careful with this. I assume the guy wants to register a .co.uk domain. If you do this for him, you might end up sending endless faxes and email Nominet a ton of docs before they can transfer the domain's registrant. Besides, transfers at Nominet are NOT FREE. I've been through that and wasn't too happy about it.

So, once registered, your registrar's control pannel will only work for account changes non-related to domain owner details. You won't be able to change a single letter without having Nominet authorize that change. You'll be sending them proof of ID, and company letterheads. Not always funny.

An account to account push is free. I've asked namecheap about it as well. :)

Yes, that's true. As long as you register the domain on his behalf and using his details, pushing the domain between accounts should not be a problem. I've been pushing my .co.uk domains from one GoDaddy acc to another a couple of times, failed once because of a misspelled company name (forgot to separate the name from the Ltd. tail by comma). I then contacted GoDaddy, they sent me to Nominet, and Nominet has directed me to their website where I can request the adjustment to be made. Service wasn't free.

Well, I think I'm going to buy the domain name in question from namecheap tonight with paypal. What exactly is the worst that could happen, it will just take a while for the payment to go through?

It may not let you pay, it wouldn't let me pay the other day, PayPal logs you out and returns you to the login form over and over. ;)

It's been working for some, but it's iffy. Good luck.

Ok, thanks. If it doesn't work for me I'll try contacting you. Otherwise I'll start an appraisal thread :)
