My site DIYHomeSellers.com is fairly new (between 7 & 9 months old) and my rankings have dropped. I am curious why? I understand that we get a boost when we first start off, but should I completely drop off the map for keywords such as for sale by owner? With all that being said...I am looking for any advice and recommendations on building good backlinks. What approach do I need to take since I have never really done this before? Thanks in advance!
You should go for press releases and article submissions. Directory submissions may not be very helpful if you have good competition. Hire a quality link builder's service to get relevant back links. It can include requesting sites / bloggers to give you a backlink. Getting listed in local business directories and sometimes even 'donating' to charities gets you a backlink.
This is my true story,I haven't try article marketing before.Someday i accidentally submitted my friend article and put my link back.So surprisingly, I manage to get traffic and give impact for me.So just follow the rule of article marketing...
Find related sites and try to exchange links, or find related blogs and post thorough comments. Also, by posting at forums such as Digital Point, your site gains a bit of Page Rank.
Writing articles targeting long tail keywords will help out in your rankings and traffic as well. Alternatively, try commenting on relevant blogs.
