Need real proof that IE is bad.

Alright, there is a lot of anti IE stuff going on and I'm excited for that, but I now have people asking for facts. What is the problem? Why is it a problem? How does it affect the average computer user? I've been to browsehappy.com and sent them there but they felt the news articles were just opinions. So where can I find good, easy to understand, facts on the reasons people should not use IE?

    Thanks

Try wired.com, ziff davis, pcmag or some of the other industry publications. They present the information as an authority. The vulnerabilities in IE is not an opinion, it's a true and open fact.

I do not go online with my IE alone. I have my security softwares with me all the time. There is no perfect browser. Since IE is the most commonly used nowadays it is the favorite target of security penetrators.

Well here is an artcile http://www.theinquirer.net/?article=16922 that is titled: US Government warns against Internet Explorer.
    In June 2004.
Lockergnome is always a good source of info. Check this one about Why you should Dump Internet Explorer
As far as features that are better than what IE can offer, there is always add-ons to browsers like Firefox because it is open-source. These extensions/add-ons are all open to opinion, but the security flaws are facts.

Here are my Useful Firefox Extensions.
I also use Image Zoom for Firefox. I think IE 5.? had this feature and they took it away for some reason.

In my opinion IE jumped the shark when they upgraded from 5.5 to 6.0. 5.5 seemed to have image zoom, and some useful webmaster tools in the right-click menu, like view snippet of HTML and others I have come to forget because they were gone.

OH and don't forget the whole pay to secure IE if you have anything older than Windows XP. Microsoft wont fix security bugs unless you are on XP.

    That's my 3 cents.

Microsoft's Channel 9 has an IE wiki page that has a lot of information. It's been quite a while since I've been to it, so I'm not sure what the current opinion is, but I know it is NOT edited for content by MS. Last time I was there, the consensus was that IE sux and Firefox ruled. Lots of reasons why. If any were not correct or blatantly libelous, MS would obviously have taken them down or responded (especially since it is on their domain...)

    http://channel9.msdn.com/wiki/default.aspx/Channel9.InternetExplorerFeedback

It might help your cause, but then again it might hurt it. Take a look either way...

To be honest about it, M$ has lost my trust, I will not buy their products again.

The network computing model (data centers) will take a lot of users from M$ down the road.

Google, IBM, HP, Oracle and others are developing models that will free companies from the M$ desktop and server environment.

    I say that is good.
