Get your own domain name and host your own site. The site also loads slowly as HiltonHeadIslander already pointed out. The page seems to be cluttered with too much stuff on it.
The adsense integration seems good. The colors and placement look to be what most people recommend. Perhaps if you add some colored background on the side columns it would help simplify while maintaining all the content you have now? When I compare johnchow and your page, I find I prefer the simpler of the two.
