Guys, I've been working on a keyword from last 6 months "example" but my home "http://www,example.com" is not ranked in top 10 pages of google, whereas "http://www,example.com/blah-blah.htm" is ranked on 2 page of Google. Is there anything lacking in my marketing stuff??
Dude you need to provide complete details on this. There may be many reason for this. It may be that you are targeting a keyword which is not present in your home page title, description and keywords and that keyword does not belong to home page i.e there is no relevancy of that keyword with home page but does have with inner page. So you need to rework on your optimisation technique and rework on the site.
First the need is to know that google now crawl and index all pages or the home page of the site. But which page has more relevant and meaningful information , and more searched by people , only then page get the higher position in search result. So make your home page more user friendly and put more useful information on your home page and update it regular. So this way you can get the best position for your home page also.
This might be happened when you target same keyword(s) on more than one page. So, don't target the same keyword(s) on two pages. If you are looking to rank your homepage for any particular keyword, then optimize your homepage for those keywords.
