Need Quick Help with My Javascript Site Menu!

I found out today - thanks to DP member Crath - that the Javascript main menu located at the top of my web pages doesn't look right with IE 8. As you can see from looking at the picture below, the first menu button sits higher than the rest:



Why might this be?

I have some bad news for you It is going to need quite a bit of work to make it perfect in IE8...

Thanks, Crath! I tried to add to your reputation again but the damn system didn't let me, apparently because I added to it yesterday. I'll do so at a later date.

I heard that I should optimise my site for IE 8, as it is still in Beta and therefore subject to change. As such, I no longer need help with this matter.

 

Yeah, as long as it works good in the currently released browsers you should be in the green

 

Yeah, DON'T make it look good in IE8, you'll be accommodating bugs that hopefully will be gone when IE8 is actually released. Never test against beta unless you are testing the beta for bugs, not the site OR if you are absolutley certain that a particular new feature will be added in the stable release (and even then, think of all the people who tried to work with IE7beta's buggy Zoom function, only to have to undo everything when IE7 was actually released). Not that the zoom isn't still buggy, but it's stable buggy, everyone has those bugs now.

*edit, nevermind, you mistyped and meant "shouldn't" : ) so this is a message for everyone else : )

Nope, but actually I don't even follow it... MS has an IE blog, keeping everyone updated, but instead of reading it myself I just listen to the other developers who do (since they care more than me : )

Jamesicus on this forum has been posting regular IE8 updates, so if you search for his name, you'll find his most recent post on it (which of course is by now out of date) and he likely has a link to the IE8 blog which would be up to date.
