First, my website was top ranking on Google for many years, I experimenting with Link manager and a week after that my site was banned from Google, this was 4 months ago.

My site has still not been re-added to Google, and yes I have done the email begging for their forgiveness, no luck.

I am now considering launching my site on another url of equal age that now acts as a 301 re-direct to my main site. Which I tried a month ago, but I quickly 301 re-directed the site back to my old site, when the newly launched mirror website started popping up with top placement on Yahoo & MSN.

Is it True, that duplicate websites with matching content can get you banned form MSN & Yahoo?

Should I add no spider instructions for MSN & Yahoo?

Finally, my goal is to get back on Google, any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Sorry about the problem, and yes duplicate sites can get you in trouble with the search engines. If the text is exact on both sites just delete the text from the old site /domain name. You can change up the text for the old site and mention your new site or abandon the old one completely.

i have experimented with duplicate sites that are not detected for a while. and are not banned.
during this time, some content can be changed a bit to differentiate your mirror site. It's probably best to not notify google about the mirror site. Over time, you would probably have modified it sufficiently to be different. It is not hard to add or delete a few adjective words here and there, and now the page is different enough.

consider putting google adsense on the site if possible. It may tip the scale in your favor in event of uncertainty.

It would be best to do a permanent re-direct to the new url if you have given up on the old domain name.

Perhaps if you posted in here some of us may be able to determine what got it banned.

You would have to do an awfull lot of link exchanges to get banned from google. Like thousands and thousands in a very short period.

    Melissa, Brad & Neof,

Thank you for taking the time to repond to my needs. Because this blog is heavily spidered, I will not spell out my URL, but add .com to my user name and you will see my site.

I was hoping to launch my mirrior site and/or URL exclusively on Google and have robot text that only allowed Google to spider the site. so that I could avoid being penalized for duplicate content on Yahoo & MSN. My current site is still ranking #1 on those search engines.

Not sure if this is possible and help you could provide would be greatly appreciated.

it can be risky to move forward with a duplicate content site. Someone may report it and who knows what can happen. Google may detect robots.txt and be wondering why yahoo and msn are blocked.

You could try quickly modifying your site phrases a bit. It makes no difference to the reader since the meaning is the similar. But the content is different enough.

"Welcome to xxxxxx, the Nations leading Manufactured Home lender. We are unique in that we only finance mobile homes. We do not finance the land that the home sits on. Most of our customers are located in mobile home parks & communities, and in other instances where the mobile home is not tied to the property by way of deed or title..................

    can be rewritten as:

Thank you for visiting xxxxxx. We are the Nation's leading Manufactured Home lender, focusing only on the financing of mobile homes. We do not finance the land that the home resides on. Many of our customers are located in mobile home parks & communities. In other cases, the mobile home is not affixed to the property by way of title or deed. ..........

If I understand the advice here, I have a site with a URL that is closer in context to the theme of my site than the original URL. Right now, when a visitor his the newer URL, they are transferred to the original one. I assume that is not a problem. It would only be a problem if the content was exactly the same on two individual URLs that do not redirect the user, correct?

Thanks for the advise. My question now is how many pages need to be changed so that they are unique? Just the index page? My site has 1400 active pages, any suggestions?

    Thanks,

    Jack
