Hi, I am new to this. I own a webiste that is a Agency for Escorts and I am not happy with the quality of the graphics, the size of the imgage galleries and also I need the site locked to stop people stealing images. If there is a web programmer on the forum who can help me with this it will be mucn appreciated.

You cannot lock images really. Once it is displayed in the browser you've already let them download it temporarily with their browser (you can't see a non-downloaded image).

However, people who want to use your images will always "right click" and save the image, which you can block the right click, but that doesn't mean you've locked them out because they can just disable javascript in their browser and download it.

I think you just missed directories - if you need redesign the site than you should ask for designer or html, css coder. About images if you own them just place small watermark then you can claim your rights if you see them at any other site

Even a javascript method to prevent right clicking is completely useless since firefox and other browsers can easily prevent javascript from doing that. And trying to write your html source via javascript in order to hide the image's location is also useless as firefox and safari can highlight a section of a page and view that exact element's code.

A non-annoying way to deter 'most' people short of screen capture is to place an transparent image over a container that has the real image set as a CSS background. That way the attempts to goto the image directly or right click and save, you just end up with the transparent image that happens to have the same name as the real image. A decent coder would figure it out though, so its not a surefire prevention, just one that won't bug the fuck out of your visitors.

    Image Leeching<?>:

There is a way of preventing image leeching. That is, stopping people on other Web sites from using images hosted on your Web site; using an Apache .htaccess file.

    Image Protection:

Images can be funneled through PHP scripts, which confuses some thiefs. It's a bit of coding and server CPU.

    Watermarks can also be added.

As already mentioned, disabling right clicking is useless, especially for users of firefox that can turn off javascript's ability to interfere with context menus.

.htaccess and such only prevents images from being hot linked from another server. It won't protect the image at all for people who are actually viewing the image on the screen.
