I need opinions on getting linkbacks to my sites from social media sites. I was thinking of opening account to social sites like digg, delicios, myspace and others also to yahoo & google mypages. I am trying to promote my links by getting linkbacks from there sites. I am hoping I can get away with adding a list of all my links within my account page. I noticed in most of these social sites there is a section when you login to your account were you can post like a blog or have a mypage type page I would add the list of links there as long as my link is in there site pointing to my site. Now tell me if I am correct something tells me that it can't be this simple. Will they delete my links will I get the SEO linkback benefit from this? I read somewhere some might have a no folow bot code. Thanks.
those good days are over when you could get linkback from SB sites and social networking sites such as myspace. nowadays SB sites like delicios and other major one use nofollow so they don;t count as backlinks. myspace also started cloaking url so you don;t get backlinks form myspace anymore either. but there are lots of other SB sites other than few top ones that don;t use nofollow and you can submit to them if you want backlink. one way to do is to look at the source code and search for nofollow. if you find it there, then no luck on getting backlinks from that site
I don't think you really understand how sites like digg work. The idea isn't to get links from them. You are supposed to use them to market your site to bloggers who then link to you.
Thanks for replies, yea digg is different. Ok so the top sites have a no follow what if I click on each of my links from within the mypages of each account will this force the bots to follow to my sites. Is there any SEO benefit will it at least help to get my new pages indexed quicker? If I click on my links at least one time will it come up as a linkback from the site and show up on SE's as a linkback to my site? I did a test on one of the social sites created a account and added a list of my links and clicked on one of my links. How can I tell where there are any linkbacks or bookmarks to my sites? I used one of those generic free link checkers but come up as 0 or a total of links but I cannot tell were the links are coming from no details.
Submitting your website to popular social media sites will help it get indexed yes as they are crawled very often. However you could achieve the same thing by posting it here at DP or by submitting your site(s) directly to certain search engines. As for doing things the long and hard way, what did you expect? Instead of looking for a quick-fix why not just create a useful, interesting and unique site that people will want to link to and as a result will promote itself organically? - Matt
Mostly of social bookmarking site is useful only for getting traffic. But when it comes to improving SERP I know some social bookmarking site can still help if it quality sites.
