    Sitemap can be useful in terms of Google crawling.. it can be good for SEO.
    You should upload the text file to your server, generally to the highest-level directory you want search engines to crawl. Once you've created this file, you can submit it as a Sitemap.

    you can make sure that all the pages of your site get indexed with Sitemap. It tells search engine to index pages of a specific site.

    yeah Site map is use for crawling the page more fast by search engines & this will also help to get SERP on google as serach engine grab those site fastly who can be easily crawled.

    there are 2 sitemaps

    1. html sitemap - a collection of links created to improve visitor experience across a website

    2. xml sitemap ( search engines) - which includes crawl-able links along with information like

    * the frequency of content updates
    * how often the search engine should crawl the page

    the sitemap helps search engines to understand site structure and find content faster, index the pages and ultimately have more number of website pages on SERP.

    Site map is to identify Google and visitors about all the web pages of site. Here HTML site map can help users to find any page, if they are not able to find or want to take a quick view about all pages. So, HTML site map should be well designed and in proper format.

    XML Site Map is for crawlers to inform about all web page URL, so if any of page is not been crawled, XML site map will help crawler to crawl and index it.

    Sitemaps are important in the way that they help Search Engines by telling them about the prescence of pages that they would otherwise overlook. Or due to the bad architecture of the site would not find. In a sitemap all the URLs are in one place and they can easily be found. Also it is good for SEO and you can check which URLs are recognized by Google or not.
