I am going threw a very hard phase at the moment on weather I should by a forum, this forum is owned by a friend. Great guy and have high trust for him as he does for me. He is asking me to buy his forum, very unique forum. Its active, has tons of members, traffic is good, 1200 unique members daily. He is selling this forum for £4000.00, as you can see this is not a small number. I can afford it, well I think I can. It is quite a good bit for one go and for one forum. He is a nice guy, who said he would help me out i reinventing this forum to a masterpiece.. It is quite hard for me to say no to his face. I'm wondering what you guys would think of this. Just ask me for the link to this forum, I will Pm it to you.

TBH, you posted the thread at 5.55pm and 5 minutes later complained that no one had replied yet, not long enough to wait in my opinion.

Anyway, is it making anything? Usually sites are sold for 10-12x their monthly revenue

As I said, if its making money, and if in 12 months time you'll have made back the £4000 you paid for the forum then go for it, if not then its a bit risky imo

He gets around 350£ including a website for his forum. In alone his forum would be something like 200£.

£4,000 sounds a little high. Forums usually go for 10-12 times monthly revenue, which in this case would be £2,400. That said, it depends if you think you can significantly grow the forum with a re-launch and extra marketing.

Also, to what extent does the current forum revenue depend on traffic from the main website? In other words, if you separate the forum from the main website, will forum traffic suffer? (Or are they pretty much separate entities, in the way that forums.digitalpoint.com and www.digitalpoint.com are?)

No absolute answers, I'm afraid. It all comes down to commercial judgement...

The site generates 70% from search engine traffic as its perfectly SEO, its not advterised anywhere else really.

There's one little link on the main site, doesnt generate much traffic, they are separate sites really.

I think he's having second thoughts so if you wanna speak to him - add brucey_99@hotmail.com

Sorry, but why would we need to speak to him? Your interested in buying the forum not us, so why do we need to have his contact email to speak to him
