Need Occasional News/Press Release Rewriter

I’m looking for a writer who can occasionally re-write press releases for a news’ site when my workload becomes too heavy. I’d prefer that you have knowledge or training in news writing (objectivity, 5 W’s, inverted pyramid, AP style, attribution, feature writing, etc.), but this is not necessary.

The topics can range from education, career, (kids) health and (kids) lifestyle. The article topics are not all fun. In fact, some can be dry and boring, but you need to bring them to life and make them fun to read.

When the press release is emailed to you, you have 24 hours to complete the task. I’ll ask you if you have time to do it, first. This is why I need more than one writer at hand because the show must go on!

Copying and pasting at least one quote from the release is acceptable (and encouraged), but the second quote, if any, can be paraphrased, with attribution, of course. Most likely, I will give you a keyword phrase to use within the first paragraph as well. You can write your own words in to create coherent prose, but you are NOT allowed to make up facts and anything that you state must be attributed to its source (i.e. according to Xyz …).

The press releases can be from one to two pages long, but the resulting news article will most likely be from 300 to 600 words. For the resulting news article (what you write), the pay will be $1 per 100 words via Paypal; you will be paid upon completion. I expect to do minimum editing of grammatical errors because no one can see his or her mistakes when writing such a quick article. However, many syntax errors may be a problem because it may be hard for me to understand what you were trying to say. In other words, native English speakers preferred.
