    It's a very good site, just sad that there is such a backlog. I submitted a year ago and still no results. Anybody can help?

    Thanks.

    They lost your submission last year in the crash. Don't expect a response, ever.

    Don't bother re-submitting. DMOZ links have little value.

    Let me show you an example so that you understand better:

    ---------------------------------------------------------------------
    DMOZ CATEGORY: Recreation/Travel/Guides_and_Directories PR=6
    ---------------------------------------------------------------------
    tyzo.com
    (plus 1 deeplink in Recreation/Travel/Lodging/Hostels)
    PR=0

    surf-sun.com
    PR=0

    motherearthtravel.com
    (plus 3 deeplinks: (1)Society/History/By Region/Europe/Germany (2)Regional/South America/Uruguay/Society and Culture/History, Regional: Middle East/Lebanon/Society and Culture/History/ War with Israel )
    PR=0

    tuttinsieme.it
    (plus 1 deeplink in Regional/Europe/Belgium/Travel and Tourism)
    PR=0
    ---------------------------------------------------------------------

    Note: These 4 sites have been listed for over 2 years. A DMOZ link from a PR6 page is not sufficient for these websites to go from PR=0 to PR=1. Several even have deeplinks.

    OTHER SIGNS THAT DMOZ LINKS ARE NOT WORTH WORRYING ABOUT:

    (1) Google hasn't updated its version of the Directory in two years.
    (2) DMOZ categories are buried deep in the Google SERPs.
    (3) DMOZ clones are buried in the deepest bowels of the SERPs, literally in the sewers.
    (4) Wikipedia pages are floating on top of SERPs everywhere instead.
    (5) Matt Cutts has publicly come forth to say that DMOZ links aren't special.
    (6) The directory is full of hijacked domains, parked domains, 404's and therefore Google would be stupid to use this antiquated, pathetic excuse of a link farm when it has a state-of-the-art, lightning-fast and gigantic software/hardware/manpower infrastructure.

    Do you want more examples? I've got lots more. ;)

    Why are you ruining industry based on listing websites at DMOZ and taking money from suckers? :D

    Here in Croatia we got a guy who is paying Adwords for virtually every possible Croatian word (not just keywords!) and is selling a book on how to get rich fast on the net ($10,000 a month), no need to mention that suckers are buying it like crazy before they even buy PC, domain, create a website... :rolleyes:

    They apply for Adsense without even knowing what domain name means and simply write anything there fantasizing how they will be first in their village to make tons of money on this - now imagine just how much you money you could get out of such person for DMOZ link! :D

    All we need to do is *ask* them when they come to DP to start a thread about "why am I not yet listed?" "will I get an email?" or "hurray I am listed."

    For fun. Some categories with PR=0:
    Shopping/Crafts/Jewelry/Gemstone/Natural_Crystals
    Shopping/Crafts/Jewelry/Gemstone/Amber
    Shopping/Crafts/Jewelry/Thematic/Personalized

    More fun.

    Society/People/Personal_Homepages/T/Taylor PR=2
    tjr.dk PR=0

    Recreation/Antiques/Directories PR=4
    metiques.com (plus 2 deeplinks in Regional/North America/United States/Maine/Recreation and Sports/Antiques/Directories and Regional/North America/United States/Maine/Localities/S/Skowhegan/Business and Economy)
    PR=0

    Shopping/Crafts/Multiple_Craft_Artisans PR=5
    sunrisecrafts.com PR=0
    designsbybrenda.safewebshop.com PR=0

    Recreation/Humor/Directories PR=6
    humorsearch.com (one deeplink in Recreation/Humor/Jokes/Random Jokes) PR=0

    Recreation/Travel/Guides_and_Directories PR=6
    tyzo.com (one deeplink in Recreation/Travel/Lodging/Hostels)PR=0
    surf-sun.com PR=0
    motherearthtravel.com (this site has 3 deeplinks Society/History/By Region/ Europe/Germany, Regional/South America/Uruguay/Society and Culture/ History, Regional/Middle East/Lebanon/Society and Culture/History/War with Israel )PR=0
    tuttinsieme.it (plus one deeplink Regional/Europe/Belgium/Travel and Tourism) PR=0

    FORGET TO SUBMIT

    No you don't need your site to be listed in DMOZ. In addition to what helleborine says, many many top ranked sites have never been anywhere near DMOZ. What you need to do is to find out why your top-ranked competitors who are not DMOZ-listed are doing so well, and follow the formula. When you have discovered the formula, let Ivan know and he can write a get-rich quick book for his fellow Croatians, and this time they might get some value for their money!

    There is no harm in submitting your site to DMOZ, just treat it like any other free directory that you would submit your site to.

    That might matter, if PR mattered. Since it doesn't, it doesn't though.

    YESSSS!!! One more reason why webmasters ought to stop worrying about a DMOZ link.

    It sure ain't for the nonexistent traffic.

    "I submitted a year ago and still no results"

    If it was a year ago, submit again. Most sites for review lost in the outage before Christmas.

    some interesting points here that a listing from DMOZ is nothing to get excited about

    however - all my competitors are listed. they have lower PR (i have PR 5) - i am adding content daily to the site. i have RSS, etc. but i just cannot outrank them for some reason

    i am in all the other directories but not DMOZ

    You know, it's a bit of voodoo, but there are hosts of factors that are at work, from your domain name, titles, tags, anchor text, age of domain, trustworthiness of your hosting company, domain interlinking, internal navigation... trust me, a DMOZ link on a PR6 page does not even make you go from PR0 to PR1 - it's been documented at length in other threads. Maybe you have too many links in directories. There is something else your competitors are doing right, that you're not doing, and I can guarantee you it has nothing to do with DMOZ. I could look at your site and give you a hint or two.
