Write articles on topics related to your site, and submit them to article directories.

 

1. Write high quality articles and put them on your web-site
2. Create a short versions of your high-quality articles and submit them to article sites with high PR.
3. Use a cheap copywriting service or write article on your own and order a bulk submission to 100+ article sites.

Jason, the most important first step towards generating traffic to your site is researching SEO and looking at what similar sites do. Learning about SEO will be a long-term process, but its not that difficult with practice. However, the latter recommendation will be critical. If you have a unique site with few competitors, doing a simple PPC campaign could generate a huge amount of traffic. If your site is not very unique, you might have to come up with more clever ways of positioning yourself. Using these forums is a good first step.

 

traffic exchanges are the easiest way but the traffic wont be quality. Its free as well

or join loads of forums in your niche and post loads with your link in your signature

 

Good content and also becoming familiar with readers in your niche. You can get to know readers by visiting forums and being active on other folks sites.

Again good content will always win in the end. You can also try submitting your article to carnivals in your niche.

 

Get some external links and SEO optimization

 

Sign up on Myspace. Create a Myspace page that looks similar to your site. Then search for people by interest. Make sure the interest is something your site is about. Then start adding those people as friends. Doesn't work for everyone, but it's free so its worth a shot.
