    Hi
I have a site for Scifi and fantasy related news.
    It's a digg clone with PR 1.
I am having trouble getting genuine people to join and post stuff
Any ideas on what I could do to make it more attractive for members?

    Thanks

I don't know how many people in here would be interested in Fantasy and Sci-Fi... But I wish you best of luck. :)

Do you know your target market? If you did you wouldn't need to ask this question, if you dont then why make such a site?

Agreed... Better do some research on some forums and blogs in "Sci-fi" and "Fantasy". This is a business forum, so you won't get very many people in here interested.

I would definitely post on scifi forums and comment on scifi blogs.

What might help is posting articles on Digg in the "Entertainment" categories.

And I would also start capturing leads... This is the kind of market that you can communicate with often

Getting the word out in related demographics is likely the way to go. Yeah, yeah, get the word out in the sci-fi scene, but also look to the areas out there that are into fantasy.

Gamers could love this, as could artists, and authors. Find out where they hang out, get a few interested, and then pull in their fan bases ;) (how to do that though is beyond me)

I'am a little confused about your site. Is it a blog, or, are you trying to create a community?

If you want to create a community, then why not use some forum software? It almost looks like you are trying to use a blog script for a forum. Blogs are good for quick growth, but when you get tired of posting articles, that is where a forum takes over.

I would not mind joining a sci-fi forum, but I do not have the slightest idea how to join or post on your site.
