    Joomla 1.5 is the new stable release. It has been in development for 2 years.

    The core is different. The templating and pluggin structures are different. Native 1.5 will not work for the line 1.0.x (they make it work in some cases but...). It is the way of the future.

    The difference is even bigger than the one between Mambo and Joomla.

    The thing is: not all the pluggins have migrated versions, so you have much more pluggins for 1.0.x than 1.5. I can do a full site in most cases for about $800 for 1.0.x and deliver in a week; for 1.5, it can be much more for the same structure because you might have to roll your sleeves up and code.
