    Hi,

    Need guide from JOOMLA EXPERTS

I need a joomla audio player component, as I am developing a online mp3 player site , the objective is the end user needs to play the song in online itself through the music player, so for this I need a supportive joomla audio player component.

Guide me , need your help.

    Thanks and Regards.

What you're looking for is really an extension that lets you set up a site like imeem (well, before MySpace bought it). Unfortunately, there isn't a Joomla extension yet that does this out-of-the-box. :(

There are audio players, but to date there is no extension I can find that lets you set up, say, an imeem-type site. The folks at HWDVideoShare say that they will be starting this kind of extension, but there is no time commitment or schedule posted yet.

To get what you need will take a bit of imagination, and probably the help of a skilled programmer if you aren't the hands' on type. You have a couple of things you can do:

    1) If you do not want to support conversion, take a gallery or some similar extension and mod it to allow MP3 uploads and embed an inline player.

    2) Take an existing video component and mod it.

There is the newly restarted JMultimedia project (http://extensions.joomla.org/extensions/external-contents/video-channels/5659/details) that has a LOT of promise. Out of the box, it supports pretty much all the popular media types, and lets you embed from existing sites (i.e., youtube, dailymotion, vimeo, etc.). It's also FREE, so you can download and mod it to your content. Someone already wrote a mod to allow you to use JComments (a good, free comments extension) instead of JMultimedia's native commenting which isn't so good. You can find this mod on the JComments forum @ Joomlatune.com.

Now, if you want to allow conversions/encoding, that's a whole 'nuther layer of complexity. In that case, you'd probably want to get a hold of an extension with conversion capability already built in (i.e, HWDVideoShare) and have this modified.

If you want to get up and running as quickly as possible (and who doesn't?), you may want to look at JMultimedia as it already supports categories and MP3 uploads. Since it's free, you can mod it as needed. I'm going to download a copy to start playing with in my lab. :)

FYI, I needed a component that supported audio AND video (mp3 and H.264 formats specifically, also including accepting custom thumbnails), so I took a much earlier version of HWDVideoShare and modded it to death. :D

That took WEEKS to do, and I wouldn't recommend this for the faint-of-heart.

    UPDATE

I found some music components that may interest you. :)

Not all of these were readily categorized as "music" or "audio", which is why I didn't see them at first.

Some are free, others are commercial:

    Music Collection (commercial)
    http://extensions.joomla.org/extensions/search/music

    Maian Music (non-commercial)
    http://extensions.joomla.org/extensions/e-commerce/shopping-cart/6057

    JukeBox (non-commercial)
    http://extensions.joomla.org/extensions/multimedia/audio-players-a-gallery/9117

There was MusicBox, which by all accounts is a fantastic free extension, but currently it's still in Joomla 1.0.x format. There is a project at JoomlaCode to convert it to J!1.5 but this seems stalled, unfortunately. You can read about it here: http://forum.joomla.org/viewtopic.php?f=304&t=408638

    Hope this helps!
